Asian Inspiration
Hi guys.
It's been a while since we had our last episode,
but today I wanted to take this opportunity to talk about our beer.
If you came to our website to purchase our beer
you might have always wondered why are there so many out of stock beers.
The reason why is, these white labels are our experimental batches.
This is our creative outlet
where we come out with fun and asian inspired ingredients to put in our beer
Every month we make a new recipe
and these are our one time limited batches.
So when we sell a lot of that beer, we are out of stock.
However, ones that are popular
we decide to redesign the package and add it to our core lineup.
So some you will see the comebacks and some are one time off
and we had a lot of angry people because, "Why are you not making this beer again?"
The more angry you get with a particular flavor
the more likely that these beers will come back to our core lineup.
So we get a lot of those emails.
So as you go through the journey with us, have a taste.
If you love it let me know
if you hate it also let me know.
So we could learn from that and make a better beer and possibly add it to our core lineup.
We've been doing a lot of a pilsners.
So all the pilsners that we make, we use asian inspired tea to add a little bit more flavor
and extra complexity to it.
This one, 1.5 IPA, it's in between single IPA and double IPA
So it's a 7% alcohol range
and we always add these sweet and sour fruits
and that we made because the pandemic, we had very bittersweet life
and we decided, okay, we're gonna reflect that to our beer.
So that's what we've been doing.
Before it was peach and pomegranate.
This time it's tamarind and passion fruit, and we're almost out of stock on that.
We've done a single hop series of IPA as well
and we do two botanical combination witbier series.
So this pilsner was our batch number three.
We made it when we opened up the tap room
and because it was so popular we have been producing it all the time
and this was added to our first flagship beer, or the "core beer."
This beer is called Kimchi Sour
and what is that did we put kimchi in there?
Or is it from kimchi juice?
No it's not.
Our brewer likes to make kimchi at home
and we pulled out kimchi culture from it.
So it's a bacteria strain and with that you can make sour style beer.
So with that we purposely made this beer sour
and we added a bit of a chili powder, gochugaru, and ginger to it.
and so it's going to be sour up front
but when you finish you'll get a hint of spice on the back end of it.
So it's kimchi inspired, we use a lot of ingredients from it.
Does it taste like kimchi?
Some people say yes.
But,
no it's not.
I love kimchi but if i were to drink kimchi juice
maybe I wouldn't like it as much.
This is GL Witbier.
We made it with galangal and lime
and we launched it last summer.
This was beer that was inspired by ginger ale or ginger beer.
But we wanted to be like, "hey let's use something else other than ginger."
So we use an ingredient called galangal.
It has a similar taste profile as the ginger
but it has a little bit more kick to it.
Yeah so try it out.
We had a customer saying,
"Please bring it back."
"My wife doesn't drink beer but she likes to drink this."
"We don't have it anymore. Please make it."
The angrier you get the sooner it's going to be launched.
This one is a stout.
So it's a milk stout, it contains milk sugar,
So if you're lactose intolerant please don't drink it.
but what we do is that we add sugar to make the stout a little bit sweet.
It's easy to drink and on purpose we made it very smoky.
We added cardamom and peppercorn in there.
So it's inspired by chai tea, chai latte
and it's a stout version of it so check it out.
It's not something you could drink a couple of cans in one spot
but if you need something like dessert
like something to finish
smoky like with barbecue or whatnot, try it out.
I think would be excellent.
So yeah, be part of our journey and try all this fun beer.
If you're a little bit more conservative
try out our core beer and that way you get to learn about
who we are and what we try to do with our asian inspired ingredients and beer.
